Understanding Religion
St. Margaret’s is a Church of England Primary School who received Outstanding at our most recent Church School Inspection.
Children have one Religious Education lesson per week in their class as well as daily Collective Worship. We follow the Locally Agreed Syllabus which is supported by the Rochester Diocese. Each classroom has a reflection area which is central to lessons and Christian worship.
Work consists mainly of Christianity which is taught using the Understanding Christianity Scheme and one other world faith per year, giving our pupils the opportunity from Year 3 to Year 6 to learn about world religions too. We look at the different beliefs and faiths of others, helping our children to respect one another and live together peacefully.
Our Christian Values permeate throughout the school. These are firmly embedded in our RE curriculum, lessons, Worship as well as everyday school life.
